The Delta G.E.M.S. program is a 4-year program designed to promote the educational and personal development of young ladies during their freshman through senior years in high school. During this year-round program, young ladies are exposed to African-American female mentors and role models.

Young ladies that complete the four-year program are eligible to receive a scholarship to be used at a college of their choice.  To participate in the Delta G.E.M.S., a young woman must attend a local area high school.

Catching the Dreams of Tomorrow, Preparing Young Women for the 21st Century: The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy was created nationally by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, out of an urgent sense that bold action was needed to save our young females from the perils of academic failure, low self-esteem, and crippled futures. The program's primary goal is to prepare young girls for full participation as leaders in the 21st Century.

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is designed to help young women in the community, ages 11-14, discover themselves, rather than leaving their development to chance. Our mission is to challenge and motivate adolescent females to strive to achieve their academic, moral, and personal potential. The Academy covers three broad areas of study: sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
